4/15/2024 0 Comments 2014 f150 xlt stereo upgrade![]() So that next weekend after the second set showed up, I went back at it. He had a second set out of 2019 and he crossed shipped it while waiting to see what the post office was going to do, mighty nice of him to do that. So, like I said the seller was great about the situation, this could have ended up being a long drawn out process and although it did take a while from start to finish, he did his best to mitigate it. Forscan wouldn’t even communicate with the acm it was dead… or so I thought. Not a deal breaker for me as I would probably never use it but just info I want to share as the 2018 and below have one on the face. It’s worth noting here that the 2019 acm (radio) has NO cd player in it anymore. So, the acm (radio portion) must have been damaged. The screen and apim came right up, The Fcim (heater panel) worked just fine considering it was had more options than mine. (had already installed the antennae, splitter cable and usb prior so all I had to do was install the major components) I put all the stuff in, and hooked up my laptop with forscan and fired it up. So while I waited for the seller and the post office of what was going to happen I figured one weekend to pop the stuff in and see if it works and maybe I’ll just keep it and make it work or at least let the seller know what works and what doesn’t. ![]() Ughhh ( only including this here as it will help explain a helpful detail later.) the box was partially crushed and partially ripped open. So, a week or so later the package arrived and my wife called me and said it was here but it looks like it came here via a warzone. I bought A 2019 apim, acm, and fcim on ebay for $550 My truck (2018 f150 screw) came stock with the 4 inch screen and no satellite and no nav(obviously). My bad, I'm rambling now.So, going to post about my 4 inch to 8 inch upgrade. I haven't found a way to disable most of those other sources that I won't be using. Currently I accidentally press it from time to time and it goes thru like 8 various input sources until I get back to my main source, Wireless Android Auto. ![]() I think I remember the interface programming asking what I wanted each of the buttons to do for each press or press/hold including that center button. I can press/hold that center button to pause my music but if I can get it done, I am going to program that button to pause on single press instead. The center button acts as the source button. Currently, my right hand buttons on my steering wheel have a directional pad with up/down volume buttons and next/previous tracks left and right. Also, I will be taking out my RR interface to reprogram one of my steering wheel functions if possible. ![]() I will probably take some time to take my dash apart sometime, not sure when, because I have a loose connection in there somewhere causing my left rear speaker to not work. ![]() Its been a while since I installed mine and I don't have any pictures of my install to refer to. I used the stock Kenwood pigtail that came with it. I didn't use the KEN2 pigtail with my install. For sure you will need the data cable but that may take care of it. Some radios will send command over the serial connection while others will require that separate blue/yellow wire. Did you run thru the software programming of the Maestro unit before you installed it? I know when I did mine I had to program it so I could register it to work my specific Kenwood headunit. ![]()
